STUFF: The Landscape of Growing Up Print

With spring quickly approaching we’ve been thinking and drawing out our landscaping plan for our summer garden. It’s actually coming along quite well (which we hope to share with you very soon), but I recently found this funny take on the idea of landscape drawings. I love how Emily McDowell can laugh (and has probably cried) through the ups and downs and realizations of growing up. There are times it can be exhausting but it’s truly about gaining strength in the journey and in the end knowing yourself a little better for it (“Mt. That Friend I Idolized Was Kind of an Asshole”).

Growing up is a huge undertaking and the older I get the more I realize that we are never done with the process. Yea, our bodies stop growing into their peek and start somewhat digressing but we’re always learning, always trying to understand ourselves better, and trying to learn from our past mistakes (“Lake I Should’ve – Spoken -Up”).

At least that is true for Cale and I.

To live life and truly enjoy it you have to be able to look back and laugh about those stupid choices you made (“The Vast Forest of I Can’t Believe We’re Not Dead”) and I love that Emily feels free enough to not only do that but to share her experiences with the rest of us! I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but hearing someone one else poke fun at themselves helps you do the same.

To purchase this print visit Emily’s online shop and check out her blog full of other illustrations at I Draw Something Everyday.
