Love on a Dime: Melon Carving

Throughout history, wars have brought nations together to fight a common enemy.
We’re not condoning or condemning war here.  But this month’s date on a dime brings that philosophy into the relationship.

Not just competing for the nicest house or car, or best behaved kids – but a competition which stimulates the creative juices & brings a couple together to work as one.

Introducing melon carving.

Melons = $3-6 per melon

With excitement & nervous chatter like kids at their first prom, we entered into this competition of the unknown. Two couple carving watermelons, and a single friend to judge.. carving a honeydew (As his honey is more than due).

We came up with the ideas of what we were to carve, & guarded the secret like it was a matter of national security.

(optional) Access to Google images for ideas = FREE

We allowed a full hour to design, carve & complete the works of art. Anything going over that time period would have to be completed after the judging.

Good music was pumped & the carving began.

Good music = FREE (Use your computer, radio, or guitar if you have one!)

Carving Knives = FREE

Two people to one melon requires excellent team work & co-operation.  It can also be a recipe for contention.

(optional) Wine = $10.00 (depending on how much you want to drink)

The test of relationship affects final judgement.

Our works of art were placed out for viewing, and judging.

Our winner.  No bias here…

We ended the night with some spontaneous living room dancing to the fantastic music which had been wooing us for the past hour, to celebrate… and just to ensure we were all still friends.
(Who can stay angry with someone they dance with?!)

Total Date Night = $6.00 per melon + wine
