Dreams; the things that give us purpose, vision, and a plan, dreams are the intangible force behind our lives. They give us the vision for the future and the hope that with God all things are possible. Meg and I have had a dream since we met to have our own business and use it to set a new standard for life, a simpler standard, that’s more family centric.
Design has always been about life for Meg and I. And life has always been about design, because we see design as a tool. A vehicle for change, for growth, for freedom, and now we have to put that theory to the test.
Two weeks ago my father was diagnosed with cancer. Two weeks ago all that talk about our firm being different, about time for family and friends, was just talk. We were working longer hours than when we had corporate jobs. But suddenly all that talk was real, life was a mountain and we were going to climb it.
We had been dealt a fight, not one you walk away from or one you ignore, but one you win. So design has become a battlefront for us in this, a place we create for love, for family and for friends. It’s become a safe place to go to, and a place from which we fight, creating time for our families and loved ones.
Suddenly the dream is alive again, more than ever we want to make this thing work, move forward and win out. Because the dream was always about people, about giving time and money to see lives changed, to see those that need a break, get one. Now we have the opportunity to do that for my family and we can’t wait to see what God does with our passion.
If you don’t know what your dream is, or simply let it die in the hustle and bustle of life. I challenge you to pick it up, dust it off and jump back in. When we live for something bigger than ourselves we gain all we’ve ever wanted. So look around and see what dreams you’ve left lying around and see if you’re not inspired to be more than you ever thought you could be!
