Nowakowski Farms: Sweet Corn

If you are from the Midwest you know there is nothing like eating fresh corn on the cob. Marinated with the perfect blend of butter and salt and pepper, it’s the perfect addition to any summer time meal.

Located in Harrah, OK the Nowakowski Farm is family owned and operated. When we arrived there must have been nearly 30 friends and family ranging from ages 8-18 shucking and bagging corn. They definitely had a system going but they we’re having a blast getting their hands dirty.

What beautiful, hard working kids (especially the one in the pink pearl snaps). I’m sure if you talked to their mothers they would tell you how ornery they really are BUT first impressions make a big impact. I wish I could have put them all in my pocket and taken them home with me! The perfect work force for our little garden. :)

The corn is usually harvested for two weeks during the summer so it’s important to get your corn as soon as it’s ready! Harvesting this year was from June 28 – July 2. You can look for the Nowakowski’s Sweet Corn Ad on Craig’s List to know exactly when the corn will be ready next summer. For $8 a bag you get anywhere from 30-40 ears per bag! Put it in your freezer and eat corn all winter or pass it around the neighborhood. Either way you’ll be supporting local farmers and making sure the little workers have enough funds for their Fourth of July fireworks! ;)

      Tammy,
No problem! We love to support local and hope to help bring some customers out your way. Let us know next year when you are about to harvest and we can send out a message to all our friends. Hope you and your family are getting some much needed rest.
